Saint-Gobain Acquires Offsite Building Manufacturer Scotframe

Manufacturer of offsite building solutions, Scotframe has announced that they have been acquired by Saint-Gobain. The Scottish offsite manufacturing specialists and full timber frame housing kit manufacturers have recently announced the planned acquisition by the multi-national construction group.

The manufacturing company has been sold, 28 years after first being established. For Scotframe Timber Engineering, this is an exciting opportunity and will help with the further expansion and development of their operations going forward. The sale of the company represents a significant milestone in the company’s history for Founder and Managing Director Bob Edward, who will stay with the company after the takeover and continue in the role of MD.

The Saint-Gobain construction group was first established in 1655 in the north east of France. The company was a diverse and successful history, being the first enterprise to produce glass on an industrial scale and has since expanded to operate in 68 countries around the world with the support of their 180,000 employees. The multi-national group has a strong presence in Scotland, and it is this strength and reputation that Scotframe will be able to take advantage of as a part of this sale.

The manufacturing company will continue to deliver modular housing and will strive to maintain their position as the market leader in closed panel systems. The offsite manufacturing experts works to provide full timber frame housing kits to be used by small and medium builders, developers and self-builders located throughout the UK. Following the acquisition, Scotframe will continue business as usual, service the customers in the best way possible and manufacturing a wide range of high-quality products. Scotframe employees will have the opportunity to be a part of a global group with a culture for personal development and growth that has around 18,000 colleagues working in the UK alone.
