SkyX Announced Their Public Launch!

The aerospace group, SkyX has announced their public launch. The company is based in the Greater Toronto Area and is preparing to secure Round A of their financing. The company was founded by Didi Horn, a former Captain in the Israeli Air Force. The company has been developing cutting edge Unmanned Ariel Vehicles, or drones. These drones have been developed in order to be used in the oil and gas industry.

The company owned by the former Air Force Captain and qualified drone pilot has developed drones that will have the capabilities to inspect pipelines for damage, mapping abilities and use as security surveillance. SkyX’s SkyOne model of drone will be able to vertically take-off and land, and will be able to carry out autonomous flight and recharging. The SkyOne drone is able to travel 150km an hour for 70 minutes and will be able to carry out a number of different functions which include leak detection, vandalism and vegetation encroachment.

The oil and gas industry currently rely mainly on road vehicles as well as manned aircraft like helicopters to look for any threats of damage that could cause problems. Therefor SkyX’s done will provide a solution for this which is less expensive and more efficient than the protocols currently in place. SkyOne would be able to offer 24-hour data collection which could be expensive if carried out in a manned aircraft.

SkyOne will be available on a service-lease and will allow oil and gas companies more scope to detect and address challenges earlier. For example, leaks in the pipeline are a problem that are a global concern that has £37 billion a year invested in monitoring. So using drones, would be cheaper and should offer more coverage while the number of pipelines being created is growing.

SkyX seem to have tapped in to a lucrative market and should be able to capitalize on the savings the oil and gas industry can make when using drones over manned operations.
