Shell to Supply Rolls-Royce Motor Cars

Shell to Supply Rolls-Royce Motor Cars

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Ltd has selected leading oil company Shell to be its new exclusive manufacturer and supplier of genuine engine oil, and the two companies linked up in December to begin the work that will see Shell’s engine oil rolling out to Rolls-Royce Motor Cars dealers around the globe.

Shell’s latest passenger vehicle engine oil has been developed and tested thoroughly to ensure that the latest Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Ltd specifications are met, and this new engine oil is set to work perfectly with the new V12 engines.

Richard Jory, who is the Global Vice President for Lubricants Key Accounts at Shell, has commented, We are delighted to have been chosen to develop and supply the new passenger vehicle engine oil for Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Ltd, using our most recent innovation – Shell PurePlus Technology.

In regards to the way that passenger vehicle engine oils are formulated, the Shell PurePlus Technology is a major breakthrough for the company and this development has been 40 years in the making due to the amount of in-depth research needed for its production.

The patented gas-to-liquid (GTL) process converts natural gas into crystal clear base oil, which is usually made from crude oil and is the main component of finished oils, as well as being one of the key factors within the quality of finished passenger vehicle engine oil.

A partnership between Shell and Qatar Petroleum led to the creation of the Pearl GTL Plant in Qatar, and this is where the base oil that is being used for the Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Ltd partnership is being produced.

So will Shell and Rolls-Royce Motor Cars’ link-up be a successful one? The stature of both companies suggest that it certainly has the potential to be, and you can probably expect the pair to enjoy a long term working relationship in the future.
