The latest sales figures of January 2018 show which are the most popular cars in the UK.
1. Ford Fiesta with 8335 registrations
Fiesta has been a British favourite for decades and the figures show that no other model will be taking its place any time soon. Even though it is not the cheapest choice in the segment, people seem to love Fiesta’s ride, handling, interior quality, and smooth engine range.
2. Volkswagen Golf with 4310 registrations
Even with Volkswagen’s recent scandal, the sale numbers don’t seem to be going down. The seventh generation Golf is a consummate all-rounder that was voted June’s best-selling car last year.
3. Ford Focus with 4105 registrations
The Focus has been offering impressive road manners at a volume price for many years. It is a complete car that looks good and also has a strong, economical engine range that offers a lot of quality for its price.
4. Nissan Qashqai with 3851 registrations
The blend of hatchback size and SUV pretentions has proved so popular among British customer that it became the best-selling small SUV in the country.
5. Vauxhall Mokka X with 3757 registrations
The Mokka has always been one of Vauxhall’s strongest cars in the UK, frequently being part of the monthly top ten. Currently, it is the second best car in the small SUV segment in the UK, after the Nissan Qashqai.
6. Mercedes-Benz A-Class with 3358 registrations
The A-Class has managed to climb from the tenth place last year to the sixth so far, beating rivals such as Audi A3 and BMW 1 Series. A new model will arrive later this year which has the potential to either boost the sales or impede them.
7. Kia Sportage with 2622 registrations
This new entry into the top 10 proves the strength of the SUV in 2018. However, whether or not it will maintain its position depends on how people will welcome the rivals’ arrivals in the coming months.
