Travelling Between Norwich and London to Improve

Work that is set to be carried out on the railways over the course of the next ten weekends will prove to be beneficial for anybody travelling between Norwich and London, with improvements to the Greater Anglia and TfL Rail services set to be put into place with travellers being warned to check before they travel due to potential service disruption.

Some of the work can only be carried out when parts of the railway are fully closed which is the reason for these warnings, and the work is set to begin on Saturday 4th February. It is part of a £250 million development programme which will see overhead wires upgraded, in the hope that this will fully prepare Shenfield Station for the upcoming introduction of the Elizabeth Line Services from TfL.

Our engineers will carry out a huge package of important work over these ten weekends as part of our Railway Upgrade Plan to improve reliability, reduce delays and prepare the TfL Rail Line for new trains in May, commented Richard Schofield, the Route Managing Director for Network Rail in Anglia. I’d like to thank passengers for their continued patience and understanding while we make these improvements and ask that anyone wishing to travel at the weekend during February and March check their journeys beforehand.

The work will connect the new Platform Six at Shenfield Station to the existing rail network for the Elizabeth Line services, as well as altering platforms to accommodate the heights of new trains and upgrading the rail junction at Shenfield to ensure that services can run without impeding one another.

So if you are travelling in the affected areas over the course of the next few months make sure to check before you travel, and remember that once the work has finished it will make things significantly better!
