In 1983, Roger Bird set up R H Bird Accountants. Providing small businesses with book keeping, tax and general accountancy services. Over the years the firm has built up a reputation for providing trustworthy advice to clients in a friendly and jargon free way.
Today the company is owned and managed by Stacey Handley and Angela Rogers, both highly skilled and experienced in accounts production, bookkeeping, tax returns, CIS submissions and VAT services.
We were established in 1967 by Alan Timmins, and are independent Insurance Brokers and Financial Advisers.
The original office in Paradise Street Birmingham was quickly outgrown and over the years we have moved from Birmingham to Halesowen and then, in 1993 to our own purpose-built office on the Waterfront Office Park in Brierley Hill.
We remain a family run business, now led by Mark, son of our founder.
We have been at the forefront of the continuing changes and development of the insurance industry over the years and in 2004 we became part of the Cobra Network of Insurance Brokers – a nationwide group of brokers. This has enabled us to maintain our independence with the benefit of the collective buying power of the network.
We believe in providing professional advice to meet your requirements and it has been demonstrated many times over the years that our advice has been the right advice for our clients. This is only known when a claim occurs and is evidenced by the case study and testimonials shown within the website.
We are always looking at making sure our clients’ insurance programs meet their ever-changing needs. No two people or companies are the same, so we do not make a round peg fit a square hole, and we make sure that the cover is what you need with the most suitable insurer. We know some brokers take a different view.
We are also continually looking into innovative developments and partnerships. Most recently this has seen us developing close links with the Black Country Chamber of Commerce for whom we are now the nominated insurance broker.
Here’s to the next 50 years!
We believe in helping and supporting the community and have for many years supported Stourbridge Rugby Club plus a number of local charities and will continue to do so in the future.

Founded in 1984 by Christopher Pemberton, Pemberton Engineering has been manufacturing press tools, jigs and fixtures for over 35 years. The company started by manufacturing small press tools for the lock industry, which was still flourishing in the Black Country. As this industry began to decline in the 1990’s Pemberton began manufacturing small tools for the automotive sector.
The company soon found itself manufacturing larger tools for lorry and tractor components, and over the past 10 years Pemberton has been manufacturing tools for Tier One automotive suppliers. The size and complexity of the tooling it supplies today has grown far beyond its early days with more complex progression tooling becoming the new norm.
The company has invested heavily over the past decade in new CNC Machinery, Wire Eroders and CMM (coordinate measuring machine) equipment. With the next generation of the Pemberton family taking over the running of the company, the future is bright and full of new opportunities. In 2018 the company purchased its neighbouring industrial unit to double its production facility and has undertaken the process of gaining AS9100 accreditation for the aerospace industry.

Tantec-UK Ltd and Tantec A/S work closely together at the forefront of plasma and corona science and manufacturing to bring about incredible changes to materials to solve a wide variety of problems.
There are several key problem areas that surface modification can solve, some traditional and obvious, some a little less obvious and being utilised more and more with a greater push from manufacturing companies around the globe.
Key areas of concern have always been in adhesion problems, solving the problems of adhesive adhesion, printing ink adhesion, coatings and tape adhesion and working with any other interface where adhesion needs to be controlled.
Plasma is gaining a reputation now not just for ‘making things stick’ but also as a highly controllable reaction system, providing the ability to attach functional groups to base substrates without the need for wet chemical reaction vessels. Adding specific functional groups to materials can influence the surface to increase or decrease adhesion, as well as tailoring the surface chemistry for further processing.
