TeXtreme® is a company focusing to developing a technology when making ultra-light composites. The company creates materials that allow for 20-30% lighter composite parts for industrial and sports products. TeXtreme® is a company owned by Oxeon AB, who is currently one of the market leaders in Spread Tow reinforcements with their TeXtreme® products. Spread Tow fabrics are created using carbon fiber and are lighter and stronger than traditional materials. Using Spread Tow Reinforcements is a relatively new composite reinforcements category. TeXtreme® has announced that they are now qualified by a leading aircraft manufacturer to create materials that can be applied to commercial aero production.
HAECO is a company that works in aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul. HAECO is the leading provider of these services as well as in interiors products and services. HAECO have been searching for a material that would be able to help reduce fuel costs by reducing size and weight of the materials used in their aircraft chairs. HAECO have teamed up with TeXtreme® to assess their current seat design. The partnership aimed to reduce the weight of the chairs while keeping the same mechanical properties.
TeXtreme® used a variety of calculations and simulations to create a design with HAECO that reduces the weight of the seats by nearly 20%. By working closely, the two companies are improving the sustainability of aircrafts produced by HAECO. Making changes show the importance companies are putting on adapting to be more sustainable and by doing so are cutting their own costs, whereas companies developing lighter adapted materials are able to expand.
TeXtreme® Technology focuses on making ultra-light products using carbon fiber that are being used in both aero and industrial sectors as well as several of the major brands for sporting goods. The product made by the partnership with HAECO is currently being produced and is expected to be delivered and be put into use at some point this year.
